Greer Relief was founded in the heart of the Great Depression, a time when our community came together to make sure no one went hungry or faced the cold alone. That spirit of compassion and solidarity has guided us ever since. While the world has changed, our commitment to fighting hunger and homelessness has stayed the same—we’ve just adapted how we do it to meet today’s challenges.

We believe a healthy community starts with the well-being of its people. Just like in the 1930s, the reasons people need help today are often complicated. For some, it’s the result of generational poverty or addiction. For others, it might be a sudden crisis—like losing a job or facing a medical emergency. No matter the cause, every family going through a tough time deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and real support.

Our long-term goal isn’t just to offer quick fixes. We work with our neighbors to understand the root of the problem and find sustainable solutions—so they can move forward with stability and hope.

We’re grateful for the support we receive from the United Way of Greenville County and the United Way of the Piedmont. But honestly, we couldn’t do this without the generosity of everyday people—community members, businesses, and faith groups—who give their time, donate goods, and share their resources to help their neighbors in need.

What We Offer

Stability Services

In-Kind Assistance

We provide food, personal care products, and essential household supplies to help meet immediate needs.

Rapid Assistance

Short-term financial assistance is available to cover urgent needs such as utility bills, rent, or transportation during times of crisis.

Case Management

Our team works one-on-one with neighbors to remove initial roadblocks by providing targeted support and financial relief, helping them shift from crisis to stability.

Empowerment Programs

To help neighbors not just survive—but thrive—we offer personalized, goal-oriented plans through case management and educational programs that build skills and confidence.

RENEW: Reaching Every Neighbor in Every Way

RENEW is our enrichment and life skills program, open to anyone seeking to grow. Through classes, workshops, and community engagement, participants gain the tools to lead more sustainable, fulfilling lives. Topics include:

Financial Wellness – Budgeting, saving, and financial literacy for long-term security

Job Services – Resume writing, job search support, and interview preparation

Healthy Living – Nutrition, wellness, and mental health resources
